Our Coaches

Our coaches subscribe to the CEFC coaching curriculum and philosophy, which emphasizes teaching players technical skills and tactical awareness. Players will always look to play forward. The pattern of play will be to play out from the back, through midfield and into the final third. The goal is to mold players who understand and demonstrate the best decision making on the soccer field in all situations.

Ben Levey

CEFC Director of Operations
Technical Director Zone 1 (6 - 11 years old)

I always knew I wanted to work with kids and coach. The game allows us to teach our players leadership, teamwork, confidence, discipline, and more. I began my playing career at five years-old with the Columbus East Soccer Association (CESA), and later went on to play for several different clubs in the central-Ohio area. In 2003 & 2005 I played a role on the Bexley High School State Championship teams - captaining the '05 team.   During my four years in college I continued to play club soccer, and started to focus on coaching the game at 20-years old. Over the past ten years I have continued to develop as a coach, working with many different age groups, from 5 to 18 years-old. Go CEFC!

Mwaliko Ahmed
I have coached with CEFC over the past year and look forward to continuing to develop as a coach with the club. It is amazing how much you can have an impact on a kids life through soccer. I  have been playing the game from a very young age, and I still continue to compete. I will be playing soccer until I cannot stand! I am from Kenya, and I played for West High School for 4 years, and Urbana University for 4 years. During my senior year both in High School, and in College, I was named Captain. I have played defense, midfield, left back and right back.  Love, peace, soccer.

I started playing soccer at age 5 and my love for the game has only grown since. I grew up in Dayton and played club from age 9 until age 18. I had the honor playing under and learning from great coaches in the Dayton area. I played on Archbishop Alter High School's Varsity Women's soccer team for 4 years. I was voted as captain my senior year. I endured ACL surgery twice during my junior year in high school but, I was able fully recover and play my senior year. I was blessed to fulfill my dream of playing collegiate soccer at Ursuline College in Pepperpike, OH. My only season there, I earned All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference honorable mention. I want to share the same passion and dedication that all my coaches have shared with me. The game of soccer has molded me into the person I am today. I'm excited to work with the wonderful staff of Columbus East FC and help make your child's love for the game grow!

I grew up in Gahanna, playing soccer throughout Columbus during my youth for clubs such as Gahanna Arsenal, New Albany Freedom, as well Blast FC.  I graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School where I was part of a State Championship team my Junior year.  I received offers to play in college, but always wanted to be a Buckeye.  Aside from playing, I have also been a referee for leagues including MOSSL and OCL for 8 years. I fully believe in the philosophy C.E.F.C. has put in place, putting the players, the kids, first.  I am eager for the kids to learn the game, but most importantly to have fun and enjoy what they are doing. The game is a beautiful thing, and can mold incredible individuals on and off the field.

Tom Daley

I began playing soccer at an early age and soon fell in love with the sport. Growing up in England, I was immersed in the soccer culture and since moving to Columbus in 2010 it has been great to be surround by people who share the same love for the game! I played throughout high school and college, captaining my college team.  I'm excited to be working with CEFC and helping young players develop their skills.

My name is Rebecca Sheldon and I am incredibly passionate about SOCCER ! ! I played for Blast F.C. from 10 years old up until I graduated from high school. Then during college I played for the OSU Women’s Soccer Club, but unfortunately, had to retire from playing due to two back to back ACL tears. I currently work at the Ross Heart Hospital and will be returning to OSU to get my MS in Nursing this summer.

Joe Macklin

I began playing soccer in the CESA organization when I was 5 years old, and later, playing club soccer in Ohio, competed at the national level.  During my junior year at Bexley, we made a run at the state title, falling one game short of the final, and I was elected to co-captain the team the following year. Some of my best memories from my childhood were spent playing competitive soccer – meeting guys who are still some of my best friends today, learning from the wins but also the hard practices and losses, and having great coaching role models to look up to. I have been coaching with Columbus East F.C. for the past year and a half, and I hope to provide the same type of environment for the players and teams that I coach at the club!
